An award-winning teacher and researcher, Dr. Schreiner's current research interests focus on student thriving and on transition issues in the sophomore year. Her recent publications include a feature issue of New Directions for Higher Education focusing on sophomores. She is co-editor-in-chief of the journal Christian Higher Education, and co-editor of Thriving in Transitions: A Research-Based Approach to College Student Success – a popular text on student thriving that is currently under revision as a second edition.
Her published work on the Thriving Quotient, from the 2010 About Campus series that introduced it to the doctoral studies that tested it with specific populations, is collected in the Thriving Knowledge Center.

Dr. Laurie Schreiner is Professor Emerita of Higher Education at Azusa Pacific University in southern California, having spent 45 years in higher education as a psychology professor and associate academic dean after receiving her PhD in Psychology from the University of Tennessee. Co-author of The Student Satisfaction Inventory that is used on over 1,600 campuses across the US and Canada, she has published numerous journal articles and book chapters on thriving, positive psychology, engaged learning, sophomore success, faculty development, and advising.
She also has consulted with over 200 colleges and universities on issues of student success, strengths-based education, retention, academic advising, student satisfaction, and effective teaching strategies. She has been principal investigator on two federal grants to promote student success and retention and has directed national projects on retention and student satisfaction.
